An on line celebration of Sams birthday to mark what would have been Sam’s 36th Birthday in May 2020. The response to the event was fantastic – Sams friends, family and colleagues from around the world added memories and used their talents to create some wonderful tributes to Sam : music, songs, poems, videos, recipes. Donations large and small came in giving the Trust a great foundation to build on, to support the community at Casa Taller.
The local labour party held a collection.
In July 2020, a group of approx 30 of Sams friends formed a B2B Geordie Crew to do a sponsored walk/run/cycle of the distance from Sam’s family home in the North East of England to Bogota where he lived in Columbia, a distance of 5,248 miles, or 8,846 kilometres. They covered much more than double that and raised £17,496 to support the amazing work of Casa Taller, in memory of their dear friend Sam. That was more than anyone could have wished for and has helped with training young leaders, keeping the house open for the community during COVID, and a lot of building work.
Here are some pictures of that building work :-

In 2021, Sam’s friends, the B2B Geordie Crew, have committed themselves to do another marathon fundraiser – walking, cycling, running throughout July.
B2B2 JULY 2021 CHALLENGE – RAISE FUNDS FOR CASA TALLER THROUGH THE SAM LING GIBSON TRUST
Sam was a dear friend to many of us and a tireless worker towards a more equitable future. He found kindred spirits at Casa Taller, a community project in Colombia nurturing the local disadvantaged youngsters, empowering and sustaining them.
Last year’s B2B fundraiser for the Sam Ling GibsonTrust, raised around £17,000. This year, the B2B crew are doing it all again – runners, cyclists and walkers having forgotten about the blisters, bruises and broken bones!
Some of the Trustees and members of the B2B had a virtual tour of the buildings at Casa Taller recently, and it was truly inspiring to see how the building and the young leaders have developed due to the generosity of you, our supporters.
The children and workers of Casa Taller Las Moyas are looking forward to taking part and will be sharing photos and stories on the SamLingGibson facebook over the coming weeks.
